About this Position:
Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accountant is responsible for recording journal entries, maintaining asset and liability schedules, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and helping oversee company business compliance by processing licensing applications and tax filings. In this role you will prepare financial reports and analyses and assist with licensing and tax compliance tasks as requested by the Assistant Controller while also providing recommendations for improved processes and internal financial controls.

What You'll Do:
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain schedules explaining the month-end balances
Prepare licensing applications and renewals working closely with various departments and individuals to gather required information and signatures
Assist with the insurance renewal process and maintain documentation
Assist with license, taxes, and certificate of insurance form tracking and reporting
Assist with the preparation of and updating of monthly metric reports
Prepare tax returns (sales and use, property, real property, telecommunication, and 1099/1096.)
Assist with fixed asset record keeping in NetSuite, recording monthly depreciation in the general ledger, ensuring the appropriate asset life is being used, and reconcile.
Produce balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as necessary
Research and analyze actual versus budget along with month over month variances
Maintain financial security by following and enforcing internal procedures and controls
Prepare schedules/roll-forwards and answer requests during annual audits
Learn and stay up to date with new accounting regulations and company controls, procedures, and systems
Provide recommendations on accounting and compliance process improvements and financial controls
Skills Needed:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
2+ years of experience performing related accounting tasks preferred
Strong knowledge of Excel and preferred experience with NetSuite
Knowledge of GAAP practices, standards, and applications
Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
Ability to communicate professionally both written and verbal
Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
